Cleburne Cafeteria was opened by the Mikelis family in 1952, and has not strayed from its simple, southern-inspired recipes for generations. A packed house should be expected at whenever you go, but the crowd and popularity are warranted. The dishes are tasty, and the servers are professional and courteous. The demur, quiet ambiance only serves to focus attention on the meal. It is the right choice for a family-friendly cafeteria experience with enough choices for even the pickiest eater. -Richard Hannah.

I rate this restaurant/cafeteria #10 on a scale of 1-10. My husband and I eat there when we visit the west side of Houston--about once a month. We have never been disappointed in whatever we select to eat. And, yes, their Squash Casserole is GREAT! I have tried to prepare this casserole at home but have never been able to match the Cleburne's recipe. If you have never tried Cleburne's, I suggest you put it at the top for a luncheon or early dinner. We love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
