The Gist : great, delicious, certain, romantic, beautiful, perfect, outstanding, good, helpful

  • Shakti is a genius. Ambience, great food, good unobtrusive service, music. Try the seafood soup to start, then the lamb. A first-rate experience. Best dinner in the valley.

    1. When we moved to NCW from the coast some years back, I was afraid my fine dining days were over. I was SO thrilled when we discovered Shakti's. The food is outstanding, both in choices and preparation. The atmosphere is so smooth and romantic, it would be perfect for any special occasion or just a laid back dinner and fine wine. Wednesdays they have a great jazz trio playing in the dining room and their bar area is fully stocked. Shakti's could hold its own in downtown Seattle any day, and it is such a pleasure to have it here in Wenatchee!!

Shakti's was a big disappointment. I had high hopes and the restaurant itself is beautiful - low lights and beautifully decorated. Very romantic.

First, they didn't have our reservation. Then, the service was rushed. Our appetizer arrived at the same time as our bread, before we'd even had a chance to sip our wine. No soone rwas the appetizer whisked away than the entree arrived.

We only wanted a glass of wine but we wanted something good, to go with what we thought would be good food. The waiter had to struggle to tell us which varietals he had, and could tell us nothing about where they were from, or which food's they would go with. We didn't have time for a second glass. The wines themselves were OK, but I'd have loved information about them. I'd also have loved to see some local wines on their (verbal) wines by the glass menu.

The appetizer, the calamari, was pretty good and it was nice to see it not fried for once. My husband's pasta entree would have fed three people and was daunting. My risotto was dire. There are two risottos on the menu at Shakti's and I am fairly certain they make up a batch of very cheesy risotto early in the day, then simply heap the differentiating ingredients on top (scallops, arugula and Roma tomatoes in my case). These latter ingredients added nothing to the dish, bar the scallops, which were nice.

Ironically, the scallops were what led to me being sick, starting the next day, with food poisoning.

Our dessert was the orange creme brulee, which was delicious. But not worth the trip or the money we paid.
