I went there once, and was under a spell as soon as I took a bite out of that personalized Calzone. It was so delectable. Fresh-made, might I add. I met the owner and the cook that first time I went. They treat their customers like family, and they just get it. It's one of those 'hole in the wall/treasure' restaurants. It puts all chain Italian restaurants to shame. No lie. I went there again two days later with a friend and had a pizza. Very, very wonderful pizza. Fresh made, with fresh picked herbs, minimal to no grease, thin crust, and a crust that was JUST RIGHT. Crispy, but still more than soft enough to fold. Wonderful is an understatement, to be honest. There is also a good mix of drinks to choose from. Italian sparkling water, sodas from New York, Mexican coke, water, and some others.
My aforementioned friend knows good Italian food, has Italian heritage, and is also from New York. He mentioned he will never eat at any other Italian restaurant in San Antonio, and that this restaurant puts all the pizzeria's in NY to shame-with this food and atmosphere, nothing is as good as Giovanni's Pizzeria.
