I recently moved to the Baymeadows area and friends told me about Chef Chan. I tried it for the first time last night. It was excellent! I had the chicken with mixed vegetables (came with white rice) and the shrimp wonton soup. Both were fresh and full of flavor. The staff was very friendly. I will definitely make this my new go to for Asian cuisine. Yummy!
The waiter is actually really really kind he is very shy and he's just trying to do his job and since he's the only way that he's extremely busy but if you would engage with him he will engage back to you but he does not speak Mandarin he only speaks Cantonese so please try to speak to him he's really worth it conversation he's really sweet
He is not rude at all. His name is Donald and is a really good guy, just a little quiet until you get to know him. The food here is Canton style and second to known. The Chef is a perfectionist who is deeply concerned in making things the right way. Try the stuffed Egg Plant with Shrimp. Good to the extreme. Yeah, I get it...most Americans have never tried Egg Plant and doesn't sound too inviting. The reality is this Chef makes it so very tasty, you will be wondering what else is on the menu that you have never contemplated!
The absolute best Chinese food in Jacksonville! We eat here once a week. Very varied menu with something for all. The salt and pepper fish filet is something I have never had anywhere before, but it keeps me coming back. Give this a try. Its really special!
Donald the waiter is great and if your into sports talk, he is your man. Again, this place is special. The chef and owner is from Hong Kong and specializes in this type of cooking. Try it once and you will be back!
Extremely rude waiter & host was non-communicative! Baby was asked to stay outside because the carriage was in the way! The service was extremely slow as if they had only one chef!!! Not recommended to go there if you allocate only one hour for dinner!!!!!
So happy that Mr. Chan is back on business though its not close to the beach blvd anymore. Their Cantonese cuisine such as Char-siu (BBQ roast pork), roast duck, beef stew casserole, ginger Kai-lan (Chinese broccoli), Bor-choi (Chinese spinach), Peking pork chop, soy sauce chicken, fried dumpling, Singapore chow mei fun (rice noodle), beef chow ho fun are still the best. If you visit there, dont just order American Chinese dishes, should try those above. You wont regret it!!
p. s I was a Hong Konger who was born and lived there over 30 years. I can tell if they are authentic Chinese/Cantonese cuisin)
I have been to Chef Chan Asian Cuisine at least 8 times in the last 6 months and have always had outstanding food with very nice portions. Service was quick and friendly. I see a good amount of patrons enjoying traditional Asian fare. This is not a fast food restaurant with dining tables. I highly recommend this restaurant. Tim
